Yeah, I wasn't sure about the content but may still be some fun reading. You can never have enough Colt books.Snakeman99, thank you for listing a potential resource for Forum members. It's very thoughtful of you. Unfortunately, these Standard Catalog publications have been known to contain all sorts of errors. It's very unfortunate. The photos are nice, but beyond that, these books tend to be pretty useless.

I guess great minds think alikeThe 1st Edition was disaster. I hope the problems have been addressed with the 2nd Edition. I'll wait and hear what others say about it before I buy. The "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" is a great resource. Would be nice if there was something comparable about Colts. If you buy it let us know what you think.
Very good S&W books, but it appears these gents are only interested in Colts as auction fodder. More's the pity. Both Colt and S&W made terrific revolvers......you cant expect much unless it is coming from Supica and Nahas!![]()
Don't sugarcoat it. Tell us exactly what you think of this book.I'll buy the second edition of that book the day the first frost forms on the hinges of Hell.

I believe that you meant that the S&W (1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd) guy's book was good while the 1st Colt Standard Catalog was not?i wish the smith guys did the colt book as well, the smith book should be on any gun guys bookshelf, the colt book make a good pellet gun backstop.
I don't know. I've been accumulating both for almost 40 years.I was talking to Jim Supica when his first 'Standard catalog' came about....
Smith & Wesson, on the other hand - wasn't viewed with the same rabid, lust-filled eyes, and if one knew what he was looking at, quite often bargains could be found.
I have never in my life bought a Colt or a S&W on a profit motive. I've always bought them because I just liked them.A good reason to write a book, but once it was written, and folks read it - Smith & Wesson popularity rose exponentially, and that was great, if you were sitting on a bunch of them.
Not so great if you were just starting out...
