New Colt Python grip alternatives

I'm partial to Colt/Pachmayr Presentation grips for the Python. I don't like finger groove grips.

Are they thinner than the stock ones?

Yes they are.

The Pachmayr Presentation grips are thinner and feel pretty good. I prefer wood but the Pachmayrs definitely are non-slip and feel good.
It's rare if I can find any finger-groove grips that fit my fingers well and Lord knows I've got the drawer full of grips to prove it.

The Hogue Mono-Grip is a favorite of Colt owners for the smaller size.
If you don't like finger grooves, Hogue offer no grooves as an option on their fancy wood versions.

Another popular option is to buy Herrett's grips. If you send them a tracing of your hand, they custom fit the grips to you.
I think they offer more models than the web site shows.

Of course, it's easy to modify grips to fit your hand. All you need is some sand paper and a fresh finish after modifications.
As described in another post on the New Python grips, since they're made of wood Micarta, alterations are even simpler.
Just file or sand to size, sand with very fine sand paper, then polish with a buff and polishing media or use a metal or plastic polish with some blue jean material.

For the 2020 Python, since it's stainless and a shooter, I put Pachmayr rubber grips that wrap around the backstraps on it. These are the no finger groove model with the silver colt medallion.

The factory grips suck. They are laminate, and they are too narrow and slippery. The Pachmayrs are 10x better for shooting.

Make no mistake, if this was a V-spring Python, I would not be putting rubber grips on it, but for the 2020 they are appropriate, look okay, and perform much better than the garbage it comes with. Plus they hide the bare, not serrated backstrap....so I'm not reminded of the cost cutting.

Last time I was on Herrett's website, I noticed they no longer list the Roper grip for the Python... That's a bummer.

My preference as well.

Hello, think they’re made to be somewhat modified by the user. The thing I noticed is the sharp edges at the back. Screaming it needs sandpaper 😀. And they’re quite hefty. thought they would be smaller. Anyone looked at the German Nill Griffe?
