I have a beautiful 2nd Gen New Frontier which has an action tune and I reload for it for many years now. No matter what combos of powders and bullets though with the rear sight all the way down it still prints groups 4-5 inches high at 25 yards and about a foot high at 50yards. I wish to try deer hunting and don't have the confidence of guessing how low to hold the sights below the heart lungs at reasonable ranges? I could have the sloped front sight replaced as I did for my 22lr NF and have a higher partridge sight put on . I don't want to shoot lower than 250gr bullets either and need hunting velocitys of at least 900fps . I use a 2 hand hold resting the left hand underneath on the bag .I try to hold the gun medium firm and let the recoil roll the gun upward . Does all this sound ok? I think old Elmer Keith replaced his front sights to higher partridge too. So is this the only thing left to try?
