New Frontier to the shop....

After some discussion hereabouts, I put this New Frontier in the shop today. Two issues had popped up, the rear sight, of course, and the firing pin rivet.

Discussed this with Keith (my gunsmith Keith Warner) and he agreed the rear sight spring seemed to be kinked under the rear sight tang. But the firing pin rivet was loose and binding against the frame.

Hopefully this gun will get straightened out pretty soon.

Got the Colt back today. As I thought, the rear sight spring had been improperly installed and kinked so that it was flattened out under the rear sight tang. Keith replaced that, also found some "gunk" apparently left over from the case hardening process. Rear sight fits bottomed out in its mortise now, and the firing pin rivet is flush with the sides of the hammer.

Will try it out Saturday morning.
