I need to replaced some broken wooden grips on my 1917 Colt 45 Army Service Revolver and didn't care for what I found on the internet so I tried to make my own. I found a company called woodworkerssource.com out of Arizona that sold a great simple piece of Black Walnut 3" x 6" x 1/2 " thick $6 and not charge for shipping. Perfect for a pair of gun grips almost no waste. I ordered it on a Thursday and got it less then 5 days later. They sale a lot of other beautiful wood product’s 1[SUP]st[/SUP] class act, I will buy from them again. I ordered 1917 Colt 45 grip screw and Escutcheons www.vintagegungrips.net Vintage Gun Grips INC Florida be careful ordering anything from them they sell kickoffs that are not even close to the ordinals. They also charge a mint for shipping, I was hoping to get something close, it came in labeled “Colt new service revolver aka Colt 1917 Army revolver”. $17.90 with shipping and it not even close, it brass not blue metal smaller in thickness by almost half and screw is threaded half length of the screw, Not close, what we use to call a near miss. I next time I will go to http://www.gungrip.com, www.brownells.com or http://www.gunpartscorp.com they used to be called Numrich Gun Parts.

I posted start to finish pictures in the Gallery. They came out pretty nice if I do say so myself it was a labor of love.

Welcome to the Colt Forum;

It looks to me like you did a pretty good job on those grips. Pretty soon you'll be making them as a business.

Bud
