Me, I'd shoot it, but then, I buy guns to shoot, not to collect as "investments". It seems that there are more NIB 3rd gen SAAs than honestly used ones, and with that many NIB 3rd gens I don't think that you're going to see the big difference in price between NIB and high condition used ones like you see with Pythons. In 20 years there will be no shortage of NIB SAAs.

Best regards,

I finally picked up a new production saa cc/ blue 4 3/4. I bought it to shoot. The same for a new 1963 colt national match pre 70 .45. Every gun I have is a shooter. I take great care of my firearms, but I could never buy one new and just leave in the safe. You only go around once. I've had friends tell me to keep the colt new in the safe and buy a uberti or colt clone and enjoy that. It's not the same. If I ever purchase a nickle version, that will be a little harder to shoot because the gun will look a lot worse after firing it.

Agreed. Not the same.

Why go through life simulating doing what you really want to do, only to preserve the thing you want most for someone else to enjoy or liquidate after your death?

Also, lets say, hypothetically 10 years from now, there is a 400 price difference between NIB 3rd gens, and 98% third gens with box. If you go out and buy a Uberti, you are gonna drop 400 anyway, so either way you are out 400. Why not enjoy the experience of shooting what you really want and use the 400 you would have spent on the Uberti for a nice leather rig, or a rifle, or towards your next Colt?

Unless you plan on holstering that bad boy, and shooting the heck out of it, theres no reason you cant keep that gun looking 98%. Shoot the Colt. Experience it. Life is short.
