I'm looking at buying one of these that was made in 1920 and has a 4.5" barrel. I know Charles Askins carried one of these (along with lots of other guns) for a time, but not much else. What is the going rate for one of these that is in about 80% and has some pitting in the bore? Does anyone hear reload for the 44-40? Anything in particular I should be aware of or look for?

Hard to give a value without seeing it . We'll assume all original condition w/factory grips . 80% finish with a pitted bore might bring about $450-500 in my area . A couple good pics would help . The 4.5" bbl is a plus .

I have a 1920 44-40 , but it's a 7.5" . Bought it about 15 yrs ago .
