If I'm gonna spend that kind of money I'd just as soon spend a few hundred $ more and find one with the box.

Oh, a friend bought a mint one for about half that amount maybe six years ago. He is an eagle eye. First time I saw one up close. Built like a bank vault. Superb revolver. Epitome of 1950's craftsmanship. Wow.

That was a really nice Colt Trooper, but I'm inclined to agree with you that for that amount or a bit more one with the correct box would be the way to go.

Me being more of a shooter and would shoot it, I would settle for one with a bit more wear and not so pricey.

A bit off topic, but I did have a MKIII Trooper in .22 and it was a really nice Colt revolver. Six inch barrel and dead accurate.
