But I think it is pretty cool anyway. While I usually like to collect the highest condition guns I can afford, there was just something about this old warhorse that drew me to it.

This 1914 vintage Springfield produced 1911 was cought while fishing in a lake in 1961. While the barrel, trigger and safety along with the springs had to be replaced, it is in remarkably good good shape inside and can (and has) been shot. When it was found it had a loaded magazine and an empty chamber.

There are some to restore and some not. I think yours is an example of history to be left showing its signs of survival.

This one I bought as a parts gun, missing grips & mag, but perfect inside. I did all the prep work and sent it to Turnbulls to replace markings & blue. Right or wrong it's my example of one saved from being parted out.
