I went "holster huntin'" today. I made my bi-monthly rounds to a couple gun shops to grovel through their junk holster boxes. All junk, except for this left handed Berns-Martin holster that fits my 4 3/4" 1911 vintage .45 perfectly. I swear, this gunshop is a honey hole. this is my third classic lefty rig I found there. This one cost a little more than usual there, $25. I assumed it was for a 4" N-frame Smith but my Model 29 wobbled a little in it. This seems pretty contemporary for this gun. Finding a great classic holster is a shot in the dark, and the chance of it being left handed is one in ten. Edit: the belt didn't come with it but fits perfect.

If you happen to find a Clark Sherrifs right handed for a DS or a J frame snubby at that place, please snag it for me and I'll pay you. I'm serious. Guys are bidding up to $100 on Ebay for one this week. Ridiculous. It's the model that has the cylinder shape wet molded into the front of the holster.

I thought 2 out of every 10 people are lefties. My sister is. Are you sure about that?

I searched that holster you want and see that cylinder shape on them. I'll keep my eyes open. Really, if I make my rounds every 2 to 3 months I seem to score something. As far as left handers go, seems like 8-15% of people are lefties. Men more than women. I don't know if this true, but lefties are more likely to be geniuses AND alcoholics. I have to go now. I'm going to have another beer and split some atoms.

Matt. Don't tell me that the belt came with it? Great find. I have one Berns-Martin holster and it's one of my favorites. That is one cool rig you found, love it.

I made that gunbelt in 1985. I used it a lot in cowboy shoots. It's been kicked around enough to look right with old holsters. Do you carry a gun in a B-M holster when roaming around outdoors sometimes? I think I would really have to rethink pulling a gun to get the hang of this. The effort to push through that heavy spring seems really distracting to a guy not used to them.
