When did Colt start building the Officer Model 1911A1 for commerical sales?

Three inch barrel and the frame bobbed off for a shorter magazine too.

Are they all Series 80 or were there Series 70 firearms as well?

Thanks folks,

'85, but it is not an Officer Model nor a 1911A1.

An Officer Model is a revolver. A 1911A1 is only for denoting military "old slabsides" from 1924 or so, on.

It has a 3.5 inch barrel and all are series 80's.

To be correct.....It's an Officers ACP, or OACP.

It was the M1991A1. There was the Officer version and the Compact version. The Compact had a black parked finish and a plastic trigger. I put a short steel trigger in mine. The barrel is 3 5/8 inches.

While there was a M1991A1 version, The Officers ACP predates the M1991A1 series guns by about 6 years.
