Can someone tell me what is the difference between a colt official police and a police positive. Does the official police have a larger frame? How much of a weight difference is there between the two if both have 4" barrels? Thanx.

The Police Positive Special and Official Police were both chambered for the .38 Special. (The Police Positive, discontinued after WWII, was chambered for the .38 S&W.) The PPS is a D-frame (think of a Detective Special with a 4" barrel) while the OP is built on a much heavier .41 cal. frame. With 4" barrels, the PPS weighs ~23 ounces and the OP ~33 ounces. HTH

Thank you for the info. I have small hands so I think I'll stick with colt's PPS. I have a Police Positive(special) MK V, and a 1st series Det. Special and they fit my hands perfectly. Now I'm in the market for a minty 2nd series Det. Special and 5" PPS.
