I have located an older Colt Detective Special, with a 3-inch barrel in .38 special caliber. Are these fairly scarce-or, maybe even rare? Also, when approximately, were these with the 3-inch barrel made? This Detective Special has the older style, non-shrouded ejector rod! Are these low valued guns-or high?

For the earlier (unshrouded ejector - notice I avoid "issues") Detective Specials, the Blue Book shows 3" barrels available in the 1947-1972 manufacturing range, refers to them as "scarce" and assigns a 15% premium. Same for the 1973-1986 with shrouded ejector. Here's mine. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Blue Book on the base 1947-1972 gun is 90%=$275 and 95%=$375.
