I don't see an 1860 Army Heritage Edition, do you mean an 'Heirloom' edition - it has the Tiffany grips? If so, I would definitely venture into the 3rd generation arena. it is a beautiful gun. The price of a recently paid 'Heirloom' cost me $2700. If it is an Heirloom, what is the serial number? Steg was looking for number 9 or 11 or 25 or 27.
As you, I normally don't stray outside of 2nd gens, but the three 3rd gens I recently bought - 1842 Paterson Limited, 1851 Navy 150th Anniversary, and the 1860 Army Heirloom are the best looking guns of my entire collection (though not of the same status as my 1861 Navy SS) - the fit and finish of these three are perfect, and these are the three my wife told me are the 'keepers' in my collection (though she really doesn't have any interest in collecting these things at all). If it is an 'Heirloom', this may be an opportunity for you. If there is such a thing as an 1860 Army Heritage (w/Tiffany grips), please post a picture.
The expert on 3rd generation is probably Steg. He has a copy of each one. He may chime in when he gets back from the CCA show.
