I was told by the folks over on the S&W board to post a question I have about Colt Python barrels here. And to specifically ask for "dferrwheel". as this person might be able to help me. My question is rather simple, what is the difference between "new thread" and "old thread" as it refers to the barrel shank of Python barrels?
Where can I find the dimentions of both?
Thank You

The thread change came after I retired so I'm not 100% sure of this, but.....

The old Colt mid-frame (Python) threads were: .563-32 tapered (.017".)

Colt changed thread specs on the Trooper Mark III and later guns, and I THINK these were also used for the late Python to simplify production.
These are: .562-36
