Picked this SAA at pawn shop

Was driving home from work and stopped by local pawn shop that usually sells only plastic fantastic Glocks. They wanted $2700 I paid $2000, new in the box. Not sure what #5 stamp on the trigger guard means

Complete package… and I believe the custom shop box/white sleeved SAA’s tend to be more favored. Not worth or valued more than any other current SAA, but just makes a bigger splash , imo. Good find.
just FYI that it shows production year of 2005 via serial on. colts online look up.

The 5 would probably be assembler mark . As already stated date via Colt archives search

Yes I know how Colt serial number search is working no question here. I'm not so sure that 5 is assembler mark. I use to have 2nd gen with letter Z stamped in the very same place and it was a factory second gun.

You did good. If I’m not mistaken,by serial yours will have the removable cylinder bushing which is a great feature. I’m guessing by year about 2004. Pete

Nice gun, good colors and fit.

Action screws look almost regulated!

I would have jumped on it with both feet myself, that's one of my favorite configurations with a 45 and 7-1/2" barrel. No turn lines, it has been handled by someone who knows how to properly handle a Colt.

I was talking to Wade Harris about engraving it, american scroll or cattle brand I had not made up my mind yet

I have a 44-40 in the S35xxxA range with a removable bushing. The case colors look like they changed in that short time from the more traditional blues and grays to the reds and yellows your has. You did great for 2300.

Not sure if the SAA follow same as the companion SA Peacemaker and New Frontier .22 or not but most of them have same markings.

In Wilkersons book ,Scouts,Peacemakers,New Frontier he states :
Left side trigger guard bow Verified Proof on front, Final inspector mark rear.

Right sight , assembler mark rear .

So if that's the same on SAA the 5 is from final inspector .
