No.
Colt just used a serial number prefix or suffix until the numbers started running out or they felt like it, then changed to a new one.
1980 was a busy year at Colt.
the serial number ranges that year were:
V88374 to V99999
AL0101 to AL9999
LA0101 to LA9999
VA1001 to VA9256
K0100 to K16265.
Colt always used serial numbers to ID models, never features on models.
In other words, there would be a serial number range for the Python, and another range for the Official Police.
But, there would be no separate ranges for a stainless Python and a blued Python, or a 4" or a 6" barrel or any other features.
