Ive come across an automatic Colt calibre 32 rimless smokeless pistol with a 4 inch barrel and pearl grips, serial number 22634, with an April 20 1897 patent date as well as December 22 1903. Any idea of the value? I'm new to this, can anyone answer please

You have what is referred to as a model 1903 hammerless .32 at proofhouse.com which shows that made in 1905 per your serial number. As to value no one can give you an accurate amount without seeing photos, because condition is everything. Since you are brand new to the Forum you may not know how to post photos, but you could check gunbroker completed auctions to see what the average sell price is with one in similar condition. There are some determining factors that effect cost. Is it original finish with original parts? The better the original condition, the price goes up. Refinish hurts value. It's hard to find them in near perfect condition because the model is a Pocket pistol and would likely be carried a lot and finish usually reflects that. According to your serial, yours is a Type I (they made I thru 4). That makes it worth about 20% more unless it's totally mint, about 60% more. Original box, add 20 to 30%. You"ll find a wide spread of prices all depending on condition. $325 up to maybe $1700 Average price being somewhere in the middle. That's my 2cents.
I will add just for the sake of showing off that I have one in 99% original condition with package complete (original box and paperwork) that cost me $1900. That's on the high side, but that condition is rare and finding it for sale is even more rare. Also the older the gun, (type one being the oldes/earliest) would have raised cost substantially.

I don't know how to move your post , but you might want to post your question in the semi-auto section to get more visibility on your question. My response is my opinion, and as you know, everybody's got one and vary. There are members that have forgotten more than I even know on the subject. You'll find expert level with good photos of the gun.
