Does anyone know if the Mod 01918 Black Oxide came with the reproduction take down tool?
A friend says the Mod 01911 Carbonia did but he's not sure about the Mod 01918 Black Oxide.
I sure as heck don't know!

Thanks in advance,
Mike

I just checked in the box mine came in. It has a small, (2" or so long),L shaped piece of steel with one end looking like a small punch and the other end with a screwdriver like blade. If that is the takedown tool, then mine came with one also.

Yup, that's it.
My newly acquired slightly used M 01918 is missing the tool.
It's not a big deal but does anyone know if Colt can supply me with one?
I wouldn't be surprised if they are out of them since the Mods 01918 and 01911 were limited run pistols. I would like to have it.
Congrats on your new-to-you O1918 Hopefully you will have a success story on the missing tool.

I picked it up on Mon. Yesterday, I ran a swab through the barrel. I was horrified at how filthy it was!
I broke it down and cleaned it. The inside of the slide and barrel showed the gun wasn't cleaned last time it was shot. The extractor claw had dried residue on it as well. The breechface was pretty clean.

Our member whom I traded with to get this gun took it in an estate sale. Although I didn't ask him, I doubt if he shot it himself. It's a good thing I cleaned it. Now it's beautiful inside and out.
The exterior is just about perfect and it's clean, so I assumed the interior was also clean. Wrong.

I also discovered somebody put a shok buffer around the back end of the recoil spring guide. It was dried up and cracked so I removed it.
Can I assume the factory did not include a shok buff?

Malysh, I'll watch out for one. If I see one for sale,I'll get it for you and let you know. I cant imagine them being more than $5. But as you say there probably aren't many out there. You could call Colt -Maybe they will have some and could give or sell you one. It would be worth calling just to see. I hope yours shoots as good as mine. The sights as you know are very small, but I love the looks of the gun,and I have not had any jambs with any ammo.

Cappy, I won't have time to shoot it until next week.
The trigger pull is amazing compared to my Series 70.

Thanks. If you find one I'd appreciate hearing about it. I think I'll PM or email Brent instead of calling C.S.
After all, it is a custom shop gun and he's the custom shop manager.
I sent you a PM...

If you're emailing Brent, see if he'll supply the little reproduced manual, as well.

There was no Shok-Buf installed, by the way.

Yes, thanks :)
I just replied to your private message.
No need to call Brent now, thanks to you. Everything else that should have come with the package was there. Outer white box, inner blue customs shop box, reproduction manual, 2008 factory manual, inner 8 3/4" cardboard box, extra mag, wax paper, two hang tags, a lock, and NRA literature. I'm an NRA Life Member so I don't need the NRA stuff. It will stay with the package, though.

FWIW...these is one in the Tier III ANIV model also, so it shouldn't be that hard to find one at this time.

Thanks Mr. May. I suspected they might be a part of that package as well.
A member who shall remain anonymous PMd me and said he thought he had an extra to send me. We've got quite a crew here :)
