I came across an old Colt Police Positive in 32.20 caliber. The serial number is 177937 and I was wondering if any of you might know the year it was made. It's not is good shape and I certainly wouldn't call it a shooter but it might make a good wall hanger. Being a Police Chief I collect old Colts as decorations for my office. Thanks.

I forgot to mention that it also has original Colt rubber grips on it.

If it's a .32-20, it has the longer cylinder and frame, making it a Police Positive Special made in 1919, as opposed to a Police Positive with the same serial number, which would have a manufacture date of 1928.

The earlier dated revolver would be correct with the hard rubber stocks.

Thanks so much for the information. I should have searched the forum for the answer before I asked but I guess that is a typical nw guy mistake. I'll try to get some photos of the old pistol to post. It's very interesting.
