A lady friend bought a nice Police Positive a while back, and wants a set of rubber grips for it, like Pachmayrs. It's got the original wood grips now, which extend about 1/2" or more below the grip frame, and they're a little big for her hands. Pachmayr doesn't list grips for this gun, so does anybody have a good source for them? BTW, this one's in .38 Special, if it makes a difference. Thanks!
Jerry

Sounds like a later model Police Positive with the "stubby" grip frame.

In the later 50's or early 60's, Colt changed all the "D" frame Colt's to this short grip frame, which had wood or rubber grips that overlapped the butt.

If yours does overlap, any grip made for a "D" frame Colt will fit. These are usually listed as for a Colt Detective Special and Cobra.

Pachmayr sells the Compac model for the Colt Detective Special. This is the same grip Colt used on factory guns for years, and a pair will fit your Police Positive.

If you shop around you can still find the Compac with Colt factory gold medallions on them, or you can just order a plain pair from most gun shops, or from Brownell's and many other online sellers.
