I'm curious as to current value of a Police Positive Special, 38 Special caliber, 4" bbl, blue finish, made in 1938. No box or manual, gun is near-mint because cylinder has been turned a few times but otherwsie unfired. I have factory letter for this gun. It belonged to a consulting detective in the Seattle, WA area named Luke May who was well-known in the 1920s & '30s, and was purchased from an auction of his gun collection ca 1967 & I have documentation for that auction.
I bought this gun because it has unusually smooth double action operation for a Colt. (Usually, Colt double-action trigger pulls get harder as the trigger comes back but this one is almost as smooth as an S&W.)
