Since I learned about the prewar King conversions, I have been struck by how much the Python, introduced in 1955, resembles the King conversion.

Here is a picture of a King conversion from their 1940 catalog:



Now here is an early version, developmental version, of the Python (from Wilson’s The Book of Colt Firearms):



Interesting, don’t you think?

I downloaded the 80 pages as about 40 jpg pix. There’s probably an easier way to do it, but my way, cumbersome as it is, does work.

The site looks incomplete, and I hope bfoster keeps building it…
