OP's were a continuation of the Army Special, with the name changed only, beginning about 1927. They continued to be mfg. through the MKIII series, at least through the 1970's (someone with MKIII knowledge, bail me out).

Your stocks are not Colt, I have seen them before used as replacements, maybe Franzite??

Blue Book classifies pre-war and post-war from 1927-46 and 1947-69, respectively. The OP MkIII is claimed from 1969-75 but, of course, is the J frame.

The Colt Official Police started as the Army Special in 1908.
In 1927 Colt renamed it as the Official Police, and it was made virtually unchanged until 1969.

In 1969, Colt discontinued the OP and most of the older Colt revolvers and replaced them with the new Mark III series.
There was a Colt Official Police Mark III model, but I suspect the production wasn't very high.

Since the Mark III series is radically different then the older Colt's, it has no bearing on the original version.
