The New York national guard.

Actually, it was the NY State Guard which is a different organization from the National Guard. Sorry to be pedantic but it is a distinction with a difference.

Were all 250 consecutive serial numbers? I have one, but it's serial number is about 500 away from the one you have pictured.

No they wouldn’t be consecutive Colt was in a practice Of making anything in consecutive order. Case in point Lou Horton had Colt make 1000 gold cup commanders in stainless steel. I have a observed serial numbers above 1400.

SN 66565 shipped Mar 18, 1914 to Adj General State of NY. NY city. Predates the 1916 National Defense Act (public Law 64-85, 39 Statute 166) Federalizes the state militias / national guards.
