I have a Colt Python (Blue) 8” barrel marked 38 Special Target. Does anyone know how common these are and/or value?

I can give you Blue Book. 100%=$950, 98%=$775, 95%=$675. Always disclaim that it's BB, not necessarily current market, and you don't see a lot on auction. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I haven't seen one sell lately . I can relate that when they were released , we had one heck of a time selling them . We had both blue and nickel . Tough to sell .

See one of these,in about 98%,regularly at last few area shows. Mitch is right on,they are a "drag" on the market,unless NIB for "safe queens"! Dealer who owns it,has come down from $1100,to $800-and ANY price drop for this tightwad,must really yank his short hairs!

Unless you are a serious handloader/shooter,who is able create loads from the old 38/44 standards,of 158 gr. at 1200fps to the mildest of wad cutters,for what would no doubt be a "tack driving experience" out of this precision piece,the .38 Special only configuration(and maybe the 8"bbl.) will turn you off-unless the price was really low,say $500!!
