Upper part of barrel/frame is coated with something gray (Stainless gun). Ok, it works great against reflections. But how is this grey coating done by Colt?

Magic is most likely "correct". I know when we have to redo one, we tape off the polished sides, and bead blast the top. Remove the tape and clean up the "polish". This matte makes for a non glare surface , when shooting.

Even if the gun is a 'blued' finish, you do the same before the gun goes into the blue tanks. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
