Just curious, Does any one know the number of 2" barreled Python's Colt produced and the SN ranges. After looking through GB and a few other sites its fascinating to see such a price difference between the 2" and the rest of the Pyhton's. Then I noticed there a dealers selling 2" and 4" Python barrels.Makes me wonder how many Python's have been re barreled to bump the price up? Maybe I'm just cautious , If I were to purchase a Python I'd need to have it in front of me and have my home work completed , ie as much knowledge as possible before making a offer for one of these fine revolvers.

The only way to know for sure is to contact Colt. I personally wouldn't buy an expensive gun unless I had a letter from colt and that would be the stipulation on the purchase. Being in a family of gun smiths 3rd gen. I know the work that can be done and the replacement of a barrel is really not all that difficult. So, before you buy it ask if it is original and if so you would like to place a call at least to colt with the serial number check and letter at a later time.
