On the blue Pythons, when did Colt introduce the groves on the cylinder release button? Similar looking like on the SS models. Thanks

Right at 1985 and up, give or take a year.

But you also need to factor in when that 1982 Colt Python was built and shipped, there's a build date and a ship date. I do know for a fact that Colt started using the cylinder latch with grooves after 1980, not before 1980.

I've talked to Beverly Haynes the archive historian before and she did tell me that some Colts sat on the shelf for 2 to 3 years until they were built and shipped off.

My 6 inch stainless Python was ordered from a big distributor about 1987.
It serial is T748XX.

I personally picked up my 4 inch stainless Python from a big distributor in 1990.
It's serial is T683XX.
