Happened to pick up a bunch of Colt I frame parts(mostly internal),but in the lot,was a "mint" pair of stocks. They are E or I frame, with the later model "machine checkering",black screw etc. BUT "Gold" Medallions. These were ONLY issued on the Pythons with the 2 1/2" barrels(and the handful with 3") right,or did Colt switch to the Gold for even the Official Police,in its last few years of production before the switch to "The Rocky Hill Mk.IIIs" in 1969?? Just curious,as ya dont see too many " Very Late" I frame Official Polices. I know that the rest of the Pythons and Officer Models had the "Target Grips". Anyone NEED these grips for a "service Python"?? I view putting post war grips on any of my earlier E frames a "heresy",but I am weird that way! Thanks, Bud
