As above, the Detective Special was produced from the mid-1920's to 1995, with a couple of interruptions in the 1980's.
The Python was produced from 1955 to 2003-2004, with ONE Python made in 2005 to commemorate the 50th year of production and the end of production.
That was the only Python made that year and it was a highly engraved and inlaid show gun.
Due to Colt's serial numbering system and gaps in production data, it's impossible to make a valid guess about how many of either were made.
