I took the stocks off my 1931 Bankers Special today to give it the Eezox "rinse" some veteran posters recommend, and was surprised by what I saw. Instead of the three horizontal holes behind the medallions, the holes are vertical!. I'm too old and dumb (mostly dumb) to do pictures, but just imagine the center hole in the correct position and the two adjacent holes rotated clockwise 90 degrees to positions directly above and below the center hole.
I have square butt 1932 and round butt 1936 Detective Specials, plus a number of pre-war Police Positives with checked walnut, plus the usual reference books, and this is a new one on me. And I see absolutely no other difference between the BS stocks and the others. All ears point to the "L."
Sure would appreciate an answer, or even an opinion.
