Recently acquired a Blue Steel framed Colt Combat Commander (Ser 70BS54564) which has a Seecamp Double Action conversion. My limited understanding is that steel framed commanders were called and marked Colt Combat Commander vice Colt Commander like mine is.
Were any late 70's steel framed Colt Combat Commanders marked just Colt Commander? I don't think the Seecamp conversion did anything requiring restamping the frame (haven't got a response from the Seecamp company yet).
My Colt also has a long stainless steel recoil spring guide rod. Were these a standard issue or an aftermarket change (may have been installed during the Seecamp conversion to add a little weight)?
Any learned assistance would be greatly appreciated.
