Hello everybody.
I live in Switzerland, and recently I bought in a shop a nice, never shot Colt SAA. 45.
The year of production is 1981, the revolver is beautiful made and well done with a finish that I can describe as beautiful and excellent. It was in a private collection and was send to the shop where I got it.
The interesting thing is about the model. In the barrel you can read Colt Buntline Special .45, and the barrel is 5 ½, and we all know that this model never was produced with this barrel length.
I hear that Switzerland many collectors in the past, ordered models directly from the factory.
According to my research in the web, my revolver corresponds to the first series of the third generation, with push-in bushing. Although the revolver is new, it has a little end shake of .002, and a little lateral move of the cylinder.
According to the information on the internet, 1981 was the first year of production for the 3rd generation buntline special, and my revolver is from this year. There were 2231 of this model (p-1813) produced.
The serial number range of my revolver is in the SA49XXX, although other Butline special I saw in the internet from 1981 was in the range SA449XX.
When I check in the Colt website the serial numbers for my revolver, some of the ones of the Butline third generations I saw in internet, these are not found.
The other rare thing is the front sight of my colt. It looks filed a little.
I am thinking my revolver was a Butline Special model requested with a shorter barrel.
Hope someone can help me to clarify my Doubts.
Thanks
