I think this is a re blue, what about some of the experts opinions.

Looks like a re-blue to me. Over polished in some areas and under polished in others -bluing over pitting.
Poorly done at that.
As above...

If it were mine, I would de-Blue it and let it age from there, "In the White"...which over time, would become 'In the Grey'.
Looks like a re-blue to me, and not a particularly good one, either.
Definitely refinished and not well. Another concern is the seller lists this M1917 as a .45 Colt when in fact would it not be a .45 ACP?
I agree, Too bad it was re-blued without refinishing the metal. Remove rust and let it be. A common mistake, unfortunately.
The Model 1917 should have a brushed blue finish. They were produced quickly for WWI, so they didn't receive a high polish like the commercial guns.
I run into this kind of stuff real often with Colt SAAs. People think they should preserve old guns and wind up ruining them. :(
100 percent a reblue... Can see where it has been polished in several areas..
That is a poor rebluing job.Over and underpolished in places and reblued over areas of pitting.
I agree that it's a reblue - I know these came in .45 Colt, but I'm not sure how the barrel was marked. Also this guy has quite a few other Colts for sale! A good amount of SAAs and 1911 variations.

Barrel was marked COLT D.A. 45
No doubt it's a reblue.Be careful with this seller. They had a Nickel Python listed as SS,I e-mailed them to let them know. They replied and said they would change the listing but it never happened. Some poor soul paid over $4g for a 6" nickel Python.:bang_wall: D*
