So I just came in possession of this beautiful colt .38 special, the box looks very old and it says police issued or something, really wanting to know more about it and it's worth
Thanks for the pictures. Stocks are from a much later Python (or aftermarket). Is there a rampant Colt on the sideplate? Are there markings on the barrel?
This is all I could fine on it, it looks like maybe a 150th anniversary logo? Thanks for the pictures. Stocks are from a much later Python (or aftermarket). Is there a rampant Colt on the sideplate? Are there markings on the barrel?
Absolutely no problem! Any idea what it would be worth? Thanks. The barrel has been polished and reblued based on that picture, probably the entire gun (cylinder looks ‘soft also).
Not trying to be harsh, just giving you straight info as I can tell.
Just to clarify, the Army Special became the Official Police. To my knowleedge, Colt's never made a revolver called a "Police Special." The smaller frame revolvers were the Police Positive and Police Positive Special, the last one of which is close. The predecessor to this gun was called the "Army Special" but the name was changed to "Police Special" in 1927 . . .
