What size drift pin holds the rear sight in place on a 4" Colt Python pistol. I want to be sure I use the correct size. Also, do I unscrew the height adjustment screw as well, or does it come off with the ramp? Any advice in removing this rear sight to install a no gunsmith aftermarket weaver base would be greatly appreciated.

Use a 1/16" punch to push the pin out.

Then unscrew the elevation screw until the entire sight comes off.

Once the sight is off, you might want to wrap a piece of tape around the rear of the leaf and elevation screw.
The elevation screw is retained by a cross pin that falls out fairly easy.
This releases the elevation screw which has two of the tiniest ball bearings ever seen and a tiny spring inside the screw.

If the screw comes out, it can be hell to get the balls and spring back in place, IF you can find them.
