I recently bought a old Colt revolver that has what I think is a third party e-nickel finish. It can't be Colt as its from many years before that finish was offered. I have a plan on sending it back to Colt to have it reblued, but I was just curious if the old finish could be removedat home (kinda like removing blue with hot vinegar). Outside of just normal household items I have no equipment or experience in this area.
Sounds like I should just leave it to Colt to remove...
Colt will remove any finish and will have to polish the gun to prepare it for a new finish.
Smart move is to let them do it since doing it yourself will not save you any money and might cause damage it would require more work by Colt to correct.
