Research Help - Colt\'s Navy Contract DA Revolvers

I am doing research on Colt's early Navy contract revolvers from the 1894-1895 period. According to the Navy's annual reports for this period 382 revolvers were contracted for. This is prior to the introduction of Colt's New Navy Model of 1895 revolver which first appeared in the early 16xxx s/n range.
I have found one from this group of 382 guns. The guns are different from the later Model 1895 Navy contract. These 382 guns were shipped in several small groups. What I am interested in finding out is the Navy inspector's initials along with the Navy registration number that appear on the butt of the revolver. All of the guns in this group of 382 will be in Colt's serial number range between 10001 and 15xxx (Colt's s/n also appears on the butt). I would like to hear from anyone who is willing to share information on this group of guns. You can contact me privately at: [email protected] if you prefer. Thanks! Bob Best
