Has anyone had any experience with the S&W MP Shield (9mm)? I have a chance to buy one new and I really like the way it fits my hands. It comes with one 8 rnd mag and one 7 rnd mag. The only complaint that I have seen so for is the small safety. If anyone has any experience please let me know before I buy it.

I rented one at my local range here in Texas, and also rented an M&P compact 9mm for comparison. I liked the M&P better personally, and have talked to several others who felt the same way, several of whom sold their shields and went back to the compact. Now that the Springfield XDS compact has come out in both 9mm and 45ACP, you may want to try them out as well before deciding.

Check out the MAC channel here on youtube for some good reviews before deciding. I'm still looking myself, good luck with whatever you choose.

I love mine. It is accurate and has digested everything I have fed it. I prefer the 8 round mag but the 7 rounder fits my hand ok. I find myself shooting it because it's fun to shoot. I bought mine to replace a model 37 Airweight that a friends wife couldn't live without. The only issue I have is not the fault of the guns but as a lefty I am having trouble finding suitable holsters for it.

Personally, I don't think you would be disappointed to own it.

Thanks guys for the information, by the time I got back to Academy this morning they had already sold it. They still had two Glock 26's, and older version and a generation 4 version. Neither felt as good as the Shield so I guess I will wait. I had hoped to find a similar pistol similar to the Shield in .45 caliber. The Glock 36 doesn't feel just right and I have not had a chance to test the XDs small .45.

A little late, but I do have one in 9MM and love it. Got it last fall. Have no problem with the safety. Easy to shoot, easy to strip, easy to clean, and easy put back together. The only difficult thing was finding additional magazines. I now have 2 of the 7 and 8 rounders. IMO, it has a better trigger than the 2 Glocks I have owned.
