I have saa #6150. When I enter it into the Colt serial number lookup, only one gun comes up (not an saa). Entering the numbers previous and after 6150, a lot of Colts come up including saa, mfg. 1874. Try it and tell me that something weird is not going on, OR can someone offer a theory. Thanks

Can you post pictures? 6150 is an awfully low serial number for an SAA.

6149 and 6156 were both US marked and sent to NY Militia. Good chance yours was.

All Models of Colt carry their own set of serial numbers.
So the search is returning all Colt Models with that serial number.

I reconstructed serial numbers vs. years, after adding in the U.S. Government contracts. Your #6150 would be about April-May 1874.

The first 12,000 or so Colt SAA's sold to the government are not recorded as "shipped". Instead, these were transfered to the government in lots after inspection was complete.

What’s the barrel length of your revolver? 7 1/2”? 5 1/2”? Other? Are all serial numbers the same?

The barrel is #2484 and is 4/34"...... DFC inspected . I joined a year ago and posted pictures then. Trigger guard is not numbered but has a "K" in the proper place, probably a military replacement?

Colt has no record of serials for US SAAs under 30XXX.
You might get lucky with a second shipping letter after refurb to artillery. Call and ask.
