Although Colt customer service states the serials above as the frame recall and has not revised the range, SAA serial S85126A was additionally included, failed inspection, and replacement SAA sent to the owner. Thanks Volk5 for providing that additional information.
I am posting this mostly for future reference for myself and others interested - to make it easier to find quicker with the forum search tool. After gathering the info from Colt, I later discovered someone had already posted the recall serials, but it tougher to find when pages (25 pages of posts) into a thread discussing the recall.
Colt said all owners of the serials have already been contacted, but I pushed the subject of needing the serial range because so many SAA’s are resold and as the years pass, things get forgotten. It was also posted that some received SAA’s back from the recall and all of the serialed parts no longer matched and were having to possibly get that corrected.. in case any slipped through or remained unmatching, it would be much easier to explain knowing the gun was part of the recall.
I have seen several new SAA’s for sale in the S85xxxA range and and steered clear at the time because I didn’t know all of the facts.
Again, Colt said all SAA recall owners have been contacted, but I don’t know if that means all frames have been corrected, so that is another reason I was wanting to get this recall serial range.
