Searching for 32WCF ammunition

1481 Views 50 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  Reamer
Hi all, I've got my Grandfather's Colt Bisley he bought in 1913 at Tufts-Lyon Arms Company in Los Angeles, according to my Colt letter. The problem is I can't find any 32-20 to shoot. I've looked everywhere.
Does anybody have any suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

You can find it on gunbroker often but pricey .
Most places are asking double retail . No brass either unless you pony up $$$$$

NEED A BIGGER PICTURE! The gun looks very nice. Just a few years ago 32-20 was a standard round but now it has become unobtainium. It will either start you reloading or stop your shooting if it keeps up this way.

Looks like gun is in high original condition. Front sight appears modified / replaced by someone other than Colt.

Is the front sight dovetailed into the barrel?

I believe the front sight is a Winchester #21 rifle sight.

I believe it is. I don't think my Grandfather modified it, so it could have been done by Tufts-Lyon Arms Company after he bought it. Everything else is original and in excellent condition.

That looks very similar. The front sight is stamped PAT NOV.4.02, if that helps.

That looks like a really nice gun with lots of original finish remaining. Even though the picture is still small it looks like the fit of the frame and straps is excellent as well as the grips. This gun was taken very good care of. The front sight is not the standard Colt sight. Bisleys were target guns and the 32-20 a favorite target caliber. Different sights while not common do show up on them from time to time.

Then it's from a Winchester 1906 front sight

Standard sight used on the 1906 .22 boys rifle.

I have 5 guns chambered in 32WCF 2 Colts, a Winchester 73, a Marlin and a S&W Hand ejector.
Two of the 5 were made prior to the smokeless era, the 73 and a Colt...
These required me to reload in BP.
Added to the fact 32 WCF is seldom seen, even among the CAS shooters. reloading is my only real option.
I bought Starline brass, I don't recall the price, I think it was $32 a hundred count.
but Bullet Barn has it in stock The Bullet Barn - Unprimed Brass
as does Reloading Brass Shop
Starline Brass 32-20 WCF For Sale | Reloading Brass Store (reloadingbrassusa.com)

I have not purchased lately but it looks like $42 a hundred is ballpark.

I've been reloading 32WCF for decades. Seems like they accumulate around here. Got several Marlin 94s, Winchester 92, couple of Uberti Lightning 32 and 32WCF combos, and a Colt first generation.

Most all are old. Shoot black powder anyway.

Those companies are scam sites. Requiring payment by Zelle or Crypto is a big red flag.

Starline lists no stock for 32 WCF and they have accepted no back orders for many years. Last time they made any 32 WCF was maybe 4 years ago. None available anywhere except at crazy prices.

Some fairly good news - not sure what it actually means. Starline says it may start making 32 WCF brass again
Time flies when you are having fun!

I would have thought I bought .32-20 brass only 2 or 3 years ago. But, now that I think about it, I was stocking up on a few things in 2016 just in case Trump didn’t win the election, which I thought was certain.

I see I purchased 500 pieces of .32-20brass 13 Nov 2016 and I paid $102.99 for all 500 pieces.
