I took my small frame Lightning to the range this morning and burned up some .22 Long ammo. A friend was there who had never seen a Lightning in the flesh much less fired one. I loaded up a magazine full and let him take the first shots. Next thing I know, he is handing me the rifle and telling me to load it again! This one was made in 1900 or 1901 so is right at 120 years old. The only "injuries" to this rifle from all those years is a small crack in the forearm and an old repaired crack in the stock. Still shoots like a dream! A picture with a brother Marlin also made about the same year.
