This is my late model Colt 1871 Open Top with an Army size grip. Still in original .44 Henry Stetson. In very good condition, with “stretched” barrel.

The assumption has been for years that most of these went to Mexico. Did your letter reflect that?

The one I have a letter on (474x) was sold and shipped to JP Moores & Sons, Sept. 24, 1874 w/25 others. I do believe that a lot of these wound up in Mexico due to the henry cartridge being popular down there. I would bet a few '66 carbines went that way too.
