I just purchased a Colt Diamondback circa 1978 in 22LR. Under the serial no., stamped on the frame beneath the cylinder crane, is the letter "F" (it might be an "E"; the stamping is faint). Curious, I looked at two other Diamondbacks in the safe. One has a "P" stamped under the serial no. and the other has a "T T".

Any idea of the significance of these letter stampings?

Thanks much!

I have a wide variety of letters stamped on all my Diamondbacks below the serial number on the yoke, most of them upside down.
They are just assemblers marks and have no significance.
