Hi All,

The slide stop notch on my brand new used Colt Gov 911 is showing a little metal displacement on both sides. Forward side as well as the back side where it holds the slide open. I notice that the angles cut in the slide and the slide stop are not the same. This makes the slide stop contact the slide on the very tip which is showing the displacement or in other words taking the sharp point off of it. Is this a normal wear and tear?

Thanks in advance.

It was brand new to me but a used gun probably made in the 70's. Colt's warranty is good but I doubt that good.

Thanks for the reply.

Sorry, missed the word "used".

Colt should be able to correct this even on an older gun.
I'd still suggest talking to them about it. They'll need to actually have the slide to be able to decide what to do about it.
Or it might be possible to re-cut the slide stop to a better angle to mate with the notch.

As-is, it's only going to get progressively worse until it won't lock open at all.
