Yes it is true. I have the new catalog and it list the stainless 70 series, suggested retail is 965.00. I haven't seen any yet so I don't know if they are actually out in shops yet. Check around at your local shops they might be able to find out for you. Or you can check with Colt and get your own catalog at 1-800-962-2658....

...........and howdy, I can sure understand why. I went to remove the trigger in my GC/NM Series 80 to install a slightly shorter trigger(short fingers). I have broken down 1911s for years and thought at least I knew how to replace the trigger. Well, when I drove out the pin that holds the sear, disconnector, etc. parts flew everywhere. Now I'm looking at 4 parts(one a really tiny spring) that I've never seen on a 1911 before. Looking into the gun it appears sufficient metal has been removed inside that the parts must be replaced or the clearances will be real sloppy. I guess the only thing to do is to get it to a Colt repair center and see if they can put it back together. Once together, it is going on the market immediately. I think I'll see if I can find an older model before they got goofed up.

Last week I picked up my new Mark IV Seies 70 Government model. Fit and finish on this particular pistol are excellent. I guess Colt has worked out the quality control issues that plagued it a few years back. I have not fired it yet, getting to the range this week, but I am completely satisfied with the level of craftsman ship on this pistol. Incidentilly it is a stainless steel model with the rosewood grips and I paid $832 out the door, taxes and all. It it performs as good as this "work of art" looks I think I will have one outstanding firearm. I am going to replace the rosewood grips with Pachmyer wrap-around signature grips, just to save the beautiful rosewood grips. My advice is to get one of these now, before styling changes are made, as they periodically are. DGR
