Hello all

OK, lets see If this new guy has this right. Single Action Army's chambered in 38 Special came out in 1930 with 25 manufactured till the cessation of production when the war started, so if I see a 38 Special advertised as being made in 1913 or so I can "assume" thats its chambered for 38 Colt Special which is really a 38 Special anyway and the /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifdifference being the barrel marking and number manufactured. How am I doing?
Thanks for any help.

John, The 38 Colt Special and the 38 S&W Special were the same case but were marketed with different bullet shapes, flatnose(Colt) and roundnose(S&W). It is mentioned in "A Study of the Colt SAA Revolver" that the chambers of both 'specials' were counterbored the same but the Colt had a 90 degree shoulder at the case mouth while the S&W had a beveled shoulder. I would 'assume' as you did, that in 1913 the special was the Colt Special.
