I've never owned a stainless autoloader but I remember years ago reading about galling problems with stainless on stainless. Is it still a problem or has the metallurgical side of the problem been resolved?
I think they have by adjusting the metalurgy of the stainless alloys. No one talks about problems anymore and many many auto's are offered in Stainless steel. My Kahr p9 has a stainless slide.
I have a couple of stainless that have had many rounds through them without any problems but I still prefer blue. I'm kinda
like Henry Ford by his Model T auto. He told the public that they could have any color as long as it was black. A lot of folks buy stainless thinking they won't have to clean it as often but they are wrong.
They need just as much care as blued.
I put a Brownells black spray-n-bake finish on the only stainless gun I own. Silver guns - except maybe nickel or silver over full engraving - just don't do anything for me.
